Spectra Cities

What is the Spectra Fellowship

The Spectra Fellowship is a 6-week summer program where a group of selected students will develop a Spectra project. The group will receive guidance and tech support to design and test an urban idea within Spectra Cities. The outcome of their work will be added to the Source City, a shared virtual reality city.

Curriculum

The 6-week program will include courses on the relationship between urbanism and technology as well as instruction in the Unity game engine and associated workflows.

Who should apply

Students from any background who are interested in urbanism, placemaking and worldbuilding, and in using tech tools to ideate and prototype.

Required Skills

Existing knowledge of Unity and/or 3D modeling tools. Applicants from non-tech areas such as sociology, anthropolgy, agriculture, etc. are also welcome. Teams will be built with a mix of interests and skills in mind.

Required hardware

Every selected applicant needs to have access to a VR headset and a PC capable of running PC VR. Spectra Cities is not able to distribute any hardware.
